This is a definite favourite of mine. Especially for the weekends - so why not indulge this weekend?? You know those times when you just feel like a massive bowl of something creamy, slightly sweet, and chocolate-y? This is my number one go-to - for breakfast, lunch, or a snack!
A lot of the ingredients can be substituted for anything you have lying around the house. For example, switch out the almond milk for coconut milk or more water or another kind of milk. And any kinds of seeds can replace the flaxseed or chia seed (texture will change slightly). You could also add berries, as my husband always does. This will increase the anti-oxidant load, which is always beneficial.

Chia Seeds are known as a complete protein, meaning they offer all the essential amino acids. Although you'll never eat enough to get your full protein intake, they still add to your overall requirements.
Flaxseed meal and Chia Seeds both help to bulk out your stool, if you tend to have difficulty in this area.
Cacao Powder is full of wonderful antioxidants that help reduce the impact of free radical damage. This is crucial for overall health and well-being.

Chocolate Almond Smoothie
1 banana, chopped into fours
2 Tbsp cacao powder
1 Tbsp flaxseed meal
1 Tbsp almond butter
1 Tbsp chia seed
1/4 cup coconut cream
1 cup iced filtered water
- Blend all ingredients in a blender for one minute - top with desiccated coconut.
